The Dow Energy Prize for 2011

On 10 November Professor of Process Equipment at TU Delft, Geert-Jan Witkamp, received the DOW Energy Prize for 2011 from the Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation, Maxime Verhagen, for his 'Eutectic Freeze Crystallisation technology (EFC)', an energy efficient separation technique for industry. EFC separation technology based on freezing uses only 15 percent of the energy needed for evaporation.

Since 1997 Hans Vrijenhoef has been involved in the development of the EFC technology. As Business development Manager at Kemira Chemicals, and later as a director of Proton Ventures BV, Vrijenhoef has guided the team to understand the market requirements and technical targets for getting an economic process. Fifteen years on, EFC has been demonstrated in mining, the chemical industry, and in manure treatment. Larger installations are now under design. Even today Vrijenhoef is involved in TU Delft work by Elif Gencily and sees the EFC technology becoming more and more mature.

Proton Ventures at Hannover Hydrogen+FC Expo - April 2011

We would like to invite you to visit Proton Ventures booth at the coming Hannover Expo. The Expo is from April 4th until 8th 2011. Proton's booth is located at Hall 27, C77. More information about the Expo can be found here http://www.h2fc-fair.com/. Proton will present its NFuel concept at the Expo. NFUEL concept is based on the production and usage of ammonia as a fuel or other purposes. Ammonia being a non-carbon chemical, it produces no greenhouse gases (GHG) on usage. Ammonia can be a suitable medium to 'store' hydrogen. Ammonia is a bulk chemical used in various applications. One application is producing fertilizer and in for example the USA it is allowed to inject ammonia directly into the ground as a fertilizer. Furthermore, ammonia can be directly used as a fuel for transport; various experiments around the world have shown ammonia as an alternative for petroleum fuels. If you intend to visit us at the Expo please let us know in advance, so that we can order free visitor tickets for you. Proton Ventures, The Netherlands Mobile: +31 (0)618290937
